Planning Your Program

The Mountain Workshop is dedicated to developing and providing experiential education programs for schools in Connecticut and Eastern New York State. Whether you are considering a day trip, overnight, expedition or a multi-year experiential education curriculum, first consider the needs of your group and clarify your goals. This insures that we have a clear understanding of your goals and together we can design a program that is appropriate for your students. This can be done by phone, email, or we will come to your school and meet with school administrators, faculty, parents and students.

Why Do Schools Choose Experiential Education Programs With The Mountain Workshop?

  • Curriculum enrichment
  • Set a positive tone for the year or celebrate the end of a challenging year
  • Full Value Contract
  • Using experiential techniques to build a classroom and school community
  • Enhance leadership and communication skills
  • Break down social cliques
  • Environmental awareness

Consider Your Goals and Expectations:

  • What is the purpose of your trip?
  • What kind of experiences do you want your students to have?
  • What are the specific needs of your group?
  • Do you want to carry this experience back into your school community?

Initial Information:

  • Number of students
  • Preferred dates (first and second choice)
  • Arrival and departure times
  • Number of school faculty attending the program
  • Transportation considerations
  • Your program objectives
  • Special needs students

Initial Information for Overnight Programs:

  • Number of male and female students and faculty
  • Special dietary needs (i.e., vegetarian, kosher, etc.)
  • Accommodation requirements

While reading through the different program options, keep in mind that we will design an outdoor experiential education program that best meets your goals.
