"What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing."
--AristotleYour interest in a Mountain Workshop program for your school says a lot about your vision of education. At The Mountain Workshop we are dedicated to developing and delivering exceptional experiential education programs for schools. For 29 years The Mountain Workshop has introduced thousands of young people to the thrill and satisfaction of learning by doing and encouraged their enjoyment and appreciation of the outdoors. Currently we design programs for schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Eastern New York State.
By using the outdoors as our classroom, The Mountain Workshop transcends the boundaries of the traditional learning environment. Our programs challenge students to step outside their 'comfort zones' and open themselves to new experiences. First we provide the environment to learn skills necessary for success, then immediately immerse the students in the act of applying them.
Teachers choose our programs because they enhance the educational and social goals of their school curriculum. Students love our programs because they are fun. We stimulate creative problem solving, active participation, positive group identity, individual initiative and respect for personal differences. The Mountain Workshop instructors are dynamic outdoor education professionals committed to fostering respect for one another and the natural environment.
Please take a moment to print out the School Planning Guide. Together we can design a program that is appropriate for your students to help enrich your curriculum and support your school's culture.
