Adventure Day Programs

Group Building: Design a program on or off the school campus with program elements ideal for teambuilding.

  • Raft building with team initiatives and field games
  • High and low challenge courses
  • Rock climbing and rappelling
  • Orienteering with a map and compass
  • Caving and Geology: An introduction to “wild caves” (non-commercial) and cave geology. Explore Tory’s Cave, a rare New England marble cave, or Ward Gregory Cave and take a quick dip through the famous sump!

Hiking: Learn to read trail signs, use a map and compass while enjoying the scenery on the Appalachian Trail or at Sleeping Giant State Park. Challenge the group on Break Neck Ridge, a demanding trail with spectacular views of the Hudson River.

Nature Studies: Identify species within a particular habitat, understand the critical role of habitat preservation for biodiversity, recognize features defining and shaping a particular habitat, and understand the interconnections between species. Introduce students to a lively nature study through Eco Orienteering or marine study on the Long Island Sound.

Canoeing: Learn to work as a crew, water safety, navigation, and how to read a river on white or flat water canoes or experience our unique 10-person Voyageur canoes. See bald eagles on the beautiful Delaware River, take a white water challenge on the Housatonic River or explore the Long Island Sound islands.
