Letters From The Shop: Winter 2007/2008

Well another successful season has passed and we are already gearing up for our 2008 adventures! We are fusing our creative minds to develop the most exciting programs available in adventure programming. There are a few new editions to The Mountain Workshop core staff that we would like to introduce.

Jon Lasser:
I have been working in the field as an outdoor instructor for several years at The Mountain Workshop. Most recently I have been given the opportunity to develop our survival skills and nature study programs in order to further enrich The Mountain Workshop’s environmental education curriculum. I am both honored and excited to join the team as staffing and program development manager, and look forward to a fantastic 2008 season!

Jess Barry:
After completing my NOLS Outdoor Educator Semester in May 2006, it was time to pursue my career in outdoor education. As a former participant on a Mountain Workshop School Program 10+ years ago, I found it only natural for me to come back to TMW for the summer and fall seasons. I have been lucky enough to find a career and company that I believe in and love. I am energized to work with John Gibson as the Schools Division Coordinator.

John Gibson:
After a three-year “teaching sabbatical” with the Wilton Montessori Middle School, in Wilton, CT, I am back at The Mountain Workshop as Director of School Programs. At TMS I taught Language Arts and Philosophy and integrated a Friday outdoor program into the middle school curriculum. We took the middle school students to Moab, Utah and developed a 6-day Green River rafting trip on the Desolation Canyon section of the Green River. I am excited to be back at the workshop keyed up for the spring school season.

We welcome these folks to The Mountain Workshop and look forward to working with all of you in 2008!

Regards,
Tim, Susan, Ben, Michelle
